Kids call the shots

Who calls the shots in your family holiday? A new survey of over 7,000 children and their parents, commissioned by Experience Abu Dhabi – the destination brand of the Department of Culture and Tourism – suggests that it’s the kids who really lead the way in decision-making.

The survey found that:

• 50 per cent of UK parents say their child is a key decision-maker when choosing where to go

• 89 per cent of UK kids like activities that help them make new friends

• 96 per cent welcome big, exciting adventures

• 95 per cent of parents say downtime and relaxation are vital for a successful holiday

• 93 per cent of parents believe their child will want outdoor activities on their dream holiday.

These findings suggest that UK families are seeking holidays that are not only fun but also enriching, providing children with opportunities to learn, grow and connect with others. But with rising costs and busy schedules, finding a destination that ticks all the boxes remains a challenge.

HF Nouf Mohamed Al-Bushlaibi, executive director of strategic marketing and communications at DCT Abu Dhabi, says: ‘As a parent, I know first hand how important it is to really listen to kids, to understand what lights them up, what sparks their imagination and what makes a holiday unforgettable. As a destination, Abu Dhabi aims to brings all of that to life as a place where kids can dream big, try new things and feel right at home doing it with their loved ones.’
